Peppermint Shipping with Seesmic !!

We’re proud to announce that after an exchange of emails and DM’s, Peppermint will be the first and only operation system to include Seesmic by default.  We won’t be including the Seesmic desktop app though, we’ll be using Mozilla Prism to construct a desktop integrated SSB for the absolutely brilliant Seesmic Web.

Seesmic has long been a standout in the world of Twitter clients, offering an intuitive interface with powerful features.  We’re thrilled to have the full support of Seesmic founder Loic Le Meur with this project, and we’re hoping it’s the beginning of both good business and good personal relationships with all parties involved.

Peppermint: A New Linux OS for the Cloud

Thanks to Read Write Web for a nice pre-release write up!

Peppermint, a new Linux-based operating system with a focus on cloud computing and Web applications, is launching into a private beta this week to a limited number of participants, and will open up later next month to even more. The OS is a fork of Lubuntu and uses some of Linux Mint’s configuration files, hence the name “Peppermint.” Unlike desktop-focused Linux distributions, running applications on Peppermint won’t require “installing countless numbers of software packages and reading wikis all Saturday afternoon,” reads the product homepage. Instead, users will run Web apps in their own windows via Mozilla’s Prism technology.

Peppermint: A new Linux Flavor for the Cloud

Another nice pre-release write up from eWeek.com !!

A new cloud-focused Linux flavor launched recently; known as Peppermint, the operating system has entered a small, private beta and will open up to more testers over the next two to four weeks.

The Peppermint OS is aimed at the cloud. Indeed, the Peppermint homepage describes the OS as:

“Cloud/Web Application Centric, Sleek, User Friendly and Insanely Fast!! Peppermint was designed for enhanced mobility, efficiency and ease of use. While other operating systems are taking 10 minutes to load, you are already connected, communicating and getting things done. And, unlike other operating systems, Peppermint is ready to use out of the box.”

Private Beta

Hello and welcome to the Peppermint OS site

We are currently conducting a very small Private Beta of Peppermint OS this week and will be inviting more and more participants into the testing pool over the next 2-4 weeks. Soon, and hopefully very soon, Peppermint OS will be available to all and we are super excited about that.

Please stay tuned as we get the recipe just right
