We’re excited to announce a new wave of Peppermint OS builds – including a brand new category called Peppermint Loaded!
Peppermint OS: Your Clean & Customizable Desktop
Our flagship Peppermint OS stays true to its roots, offering a lightweight XFCE desktop that lets you choose the applications you need. This keeps your system efficient and uncluttered – perfect for those who prefer a minimalist approach. Choose from 32-bit, 64-bit, all featuring the familiar Peppermint experience with only the essentials pre-installed.
Introducing Peppermint Loaded: Perfect for New Users
Many users have requested a pre-configured option, and we’ve listened! Peppermint Loaded is a sleek and fully-populated XFCE desktop ideal for new users or those who want a more out-of-the-box experience. Get started quickly with essential applications pre-installed, including:
- Firefox
- GIMP
- LibreOffice
- Atril
- Inkscape
- Thunderbird
- Gnome System Tools
- Timeshift
…and more! Peppermint Loaded is available in 32-bit and 64-bit versions.
A few highlights to mention:
- Btop++: This powerful process monitor takes the place of Htop, offering a more informative and visually appealing interface.
- xDaily: We built a GUI for those users who prefer to use this method to maintain their system, thank you to all those in the community who provided feedback for us.
- pfetch: Our custom replacement for Neofetch, providing system information in a clean format.
Flatpak Support (Peppermint Loaded Only): Peppermint Loaded comes with Flatpak pre-installed for easy access to a wide range of applications. We’ve also forked the Mint Store to seamlessly integrate with Flatpak for a smooth software installation experience. (Please note: Flatpaks are not currently supported on 32-bit systems.)
Finally a few notes we want to share:
You might encounter a delay after running the /usr/sbin/update-system
script during installation. This is completely normal and doesn’t signify an error. The installer operates in debug mode, which can cause the update process to appear slower than usual.
Why the wait? The script is automatically updating your system with the latest software packages (updates
) in the background. This ensures you have a fully up-to-date system upon your first boot.

From the team we would like to thank you all for your continued support and contributions!

Peppermint Fully Loaded…full marks, just one request, svp, can you add BOINC, or leave as a choice in software ..?
Regards
Paul
Sorry, gangawah@gmail.com…made a mistake re BOINC..it is, of course, in Fully Loaded, was looking for it for other versions …any chance..?
Apologies, and regards,
Paul Clifford
I’m LOVING the fully loaded– gorgeous, simple- FAST.. EXCEPT—I can NOT get sound through my HDMI monitor although the video is STUNNINGLY beautiful…. if I can fix this SOUND thing- Iv’e found my HOME.. (after distrohopping for years).. This is absolutely the BEST Peppermint I’ve seen since I first heard about you years ago. OH- and can it be SIMPLE? I don’t do coding or command line other than very basic stuff.. THANKS in ADVANCe.
Are you running XFCE if you click the speaker icon by the clock what do you see,
I see GK208 HDMI Audio Controller that is my HDMI monitor with my speakers when I select that sound works from there
can i update from the peppermint os july 2023 to this new version with the updater?
The updater keeps thing updated in line with the Debian or Devuan, core system/security updates and any additional packages that you have installed.
It will not add these changes that we have updated to.
but if you are open to the idea you could install the packages that are, shipped with the Loaded build and they would give you basically the same thing.
Is it possible to replace the existing Peppermint installation with the new Peppermint installation keeping the files in the drive intact using the ISO? Any workaround with this? Kindly share
If you have a debian version of Peppermint you can run the through the upgrade wiki and that should work
https://wiki.debian.org/DebianUpgrade
On the download page, please explain the difference between Debian and Devuan repositories for newbies. Thanks for your hard work!
Done thank you for the suggestion!
Me resulta imposible la instalación al no poder configurar el teclado pese a haberlo intentado un montón de veces
It is impossible for me to install it because I cannot configure the keyboard despite having tried a lot of times
What are you trying to configure it too
Hi Guys….
I really like Peppermint Linux, I have it installed on a USB stick as an alternate to Windows 11 or as a portable OS with my necessaries if Windows becomes corrupted, but I find myself booting it up quite a bit just because it fits my needs so well… I have tried using Linux a number of times over the years, but found the (often) need to use the command line to be more than I wished to learn… I know you may wish for a donation in addition to my praises but I am unable to do so at this time, maybe later. The version I installed was the 64 bit iso from your web site but it did not have all the preinstalled apps mentioned above, can I upgrade somehow? I am pretty satisfied with my current configuration, but thought I might be missing some good stuff…
Regards,
William
I would like to say thank you to the team, it is only distro I can install on my Intel Tray Bail 64bit CPU with 32bit UEFI without any problem, all hardwares are detected automatically. By the way, I fail to install PMOS x64 in old laptop without UEFI support (legacy boot), does it mean it only support UEFI? I create the bootable USB and select MBR, legacy mode.
thank you! for your kind words… hmmm Its really hard to say without knowing what the hardware is…. if you can email us the results of
