Yes. Peppermint OS is different. Instead of waiting every couple of years to compile feedback from its users and then deliver a large, clunky, operating system that runs $200-$300, we have decided to be the better option on the block. I would start listing the other money you’ll need to throw down, like anti-virus software and things to remove all the corporate spy-ware you just invested in, but that would be another waste of my time and yours.
Our solution, the Peppermint OS solution, the Linux solution to creating great products is simple: We Listen and then We Deliver. Not next year. Today. Not with your savings account. Free. Got it…?
We’ve been fielding all sorts of great suggestions and improvement ideas via email, Twitter and our Community Support page. Based upon the great feedback from our users here are some highlights of the updates that will be implemented sometime next week:
- Including modemmanager by default for better 3G connectivity
- Persistent changes to keyboard and mouse settings
- Quick search is fixed in Synaptic Package Manager
- Shutdown button added to the panel
If you are having issues with Peppermint OS or have a great idea please visit the Community Support page and let us know.
Have a great afternoon – Team Peppermint
You’re doing a great job so far, and I look forward to coming improvements and developments. Nice philosophy.
I wish I could think of something constructive but right now, but aside from installing some software packages I needed (my own choice, great!), Peppermint is the zippiest and most “out of my way” distro I’ve yet come across. Only thing I might point out is that on this machine, with a few other apps running, software manager seems a little heavy on resources and I’ve encountered disk thrashing (this on a machine with 768M RAM, Athlon processor), but then that should serve me right for having so much going on at once ;)
I suppose I vaguely miss inxi as a tool, but each to their own :)
Best wishes to you all.
